Nugget iOS 26: Full Compatibility Guide

8 июня 2026 г.7 min read

If you just updated your device to iOS 26 and you're wondering whether Nugget still works — you're in the right place. Apple made significant security changes across the iOS 26 lifecycle that affected how customization tools apply system tweaks. Some features still work fine. Others were patched at specific sub-versions and won't come back. This guide breaks it all down clearly!

💡
Quick Answer: Does Nugget Work on iOS 26?

Yes — but with important limits. Nugget works on iOS 26.0 through iOS 26.1 with full BookRestore support, including MobileGestalt tweaks. On iOS 26.2 and later, MobileGestalt-based features (like Dynamic Island simulation and AI Enabler) are no longer supported. PosterBoard animated wallpapers and Springboard/status bar tweaks continue to work on supported sub-versions.

Recommended Starting Point

Before installing or applying any settings, we highly recommend following these three steps:

  1. Go to the official Nugget GitHub Releases page (github.com/leminlimez/Nugget) and check the latest version.
  2. Read the release notes to confirm your exact iOS 26 sub-version is supported.
  3. Check the GitHub Issues and Discussions tab for any reported problems on your device.

What Changed From iOS 18 to iOS 26

Apple significantly tightened system protections in the iOS 26 cycle. The biggest change that affects Nugget is what happened to the BookRestore exploit.

Up through iOS 26.1, BookRestore was the method Nugget iOS used to apply MobileGestalt tweaks — the ones that control things like Dynamic Island simulation, device spoofing, and the AI Enabler. It worked by leveraging the Apple Books app's restore mechanism to write modified files into protected system areas.

Starting with iOS 26.2 beta 2, and continuing through iOS 26.4, Apple patched the loopback VPN connection that BookRestore depends on. As of iOS 26.4, that patch is permanent. If you're on iOS 26.2 or later, don't expect Dynamic Island simulation or Apple Intelligence features to work through Nugget. That exploit path is closed.

That said, Nugget is actively maintained. Version 7.x (released in early 2026) continued adding iOS 26-specific features like improved Liquid Glass controls and better PosterBoard stability. The tool hasn't been abandoned.

SparseRestore vs BookRestore

If you've spent any time reading about Nugget, you've probably seen these two terms. Here is a quick breakdown:

  • SparseRestore (Older iOS versions): Works on iOS 17.0 through iOS 18.1.1. This exploit tricks iOS into restoring files to locations outside the usual backup scope, letting Nugget write modified system config files. Apple patched this for MobileGestalt in iOS 18.2.
  • BookRestore (iOS 18.2 - 26.1): A different exploit path discovered by researchers Duy Tran and Huy Nguyen. It uses a failed Apple Books download to trigger a restore sequence. This is how MobileGestalt tweaks kept working on iOS 18.2 through 26.1 even after SparseRestore was patched. Apple closed this in iOS 26.2 beta 2.

What Features Work on iOS 26

On iOS 26.0 and 26.1, Nugget remains highly functional:

  • PosterBoard animated wallpapers: This is one of Nugget's most popular features and it works well on supported iOS 26 versions. You can apply true animated wallpapers (.tendies files) to both your lock screen and home screen. Pocket Poster lets you manage these on-device.
  • Status bar customization: Change your carrier name, fake the battery percentage display, adjust cellular bar appearance, and modify the time/date text format.
  • SpringBoard options: Options like suppressing the Dynamic Island completely (added for iOS 26.2+ specifically), adjusting the AirDrop time limit, and various SpringBoard toggles are available, including the new Liquid Glass interface.
  • Lock screen footnote: Add a custom text note to your lock screen below the "Swipe Up" prompt.
  • iPadOS mode on iPhone: Nugget can enable iPadOS interface behaviors on compatible iPhones — this includes multitasking UI elements and layout changes. This is a MobileGestalt-based feature (supported on iOS 26.0 and 26.1, patched on 26.2+).

How to Use Nugget on iOS 26

If you're on a supported version (iOS 26.0 - 26.1), follow these instructions to apply tweaks:

1

Download: Get the Nugget app from the official GitHub Releases page (github.com/leminlimez/Nugget).

2

Developer Mode: Enable Developer Mode on your iPhone under Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode.

3

Connection: Connect your device via USB to your computer.

4

Select Tweaks: Open Nugget on your desktop, select your device, and choose your customization options from the sidebar categories.

5

Apply: On iOS 26.0–26.1, for MobileGestalt tweaks, you must fetch your device's specific mobilegestalt file using the iOS Shortcuts app (refer to the README). Click Apply, let the tool tunnel and restore, and wait for your device to respring.

⚠️ Warning for iOS 26.4+: MobileGestalt tweaks are fully patched. Always revert any resolution modifications in Nugget before upgrading your iOS version, as resolution config files lock post-update and can result in bootloops or permanent settings that cannot be removed.

What's Patched or Unsupported on iOS 26.2+

  • Dynamic Island simulation on unsupported iPhones.
  • Device model spoofing (changing device model identifiers).
  • Always-on display enablement.

Common Problems & Fixes

  • MobileGestalt tweaks failing to apply: Confirm you are on iOS 26.0 or 26.1 and have obtained the specific MobileGestalt file using the Shortcut. This is not supported on 26.2+.
  • BookRestore failing with tunnel errors: Restart your iPhone, restart the Nugget desktop app, and make sure your Apple Books app is installed and signed into iCloud. Select "Remove All Changes" to clear any incomplete restore states.
  • Liquid Glass showing incorrect fallback: The "Force Solarium Fallback" toggle requires a full device respring. If the UI hasn't changed, perform a manual restart on your device.
