01

Prerequisite

Prepare iTunes

Before using Nugget import features, make sure your computer can properly communicate with the device. Windows requires iTunes; macOS can use Finder directly.

Windows

iTunes Required

Windows must have iTunes installed before it can recognize and manage Apple devices.

  1. Open the Apple iTunes website.
  2. Download and install the iTunes version that matches your system.
  3. Launch iTunes after installation and connect your device with USB.
  4. Confirm that the device appears correctly inside iTunes.
  5. When the phone asks whether to trust this computer, tap Trust.

macOS

No iTunes Needed

macOS includes built-in device management, so you can identify the device directly through Finder without installing iTunes.

  1. Connect your Apple device to the Mac with a USB cable.
  2. Open Finder.
  3. Look for your device in the Locations section of the sidebar.
  4. Click the device name and choose Trust on both the Mac and the phone.
02

Required

Turn Off Find My iPhone

Before using Nugget import features, you need to turn off Find My iPhone on the device. This is the easiest step to miss and one of the most important.

It must be fully disabled
  1. Open Settings on the iPhone.
  2. Tap iCloud → Find My.
  3. Turn off Find My iPhone.

If you can't disable it

  1. Open Settings → Face ID & Passcode.
  2. Turn off Stolen Device Protection.
  3. Then try turning off Find My iPhone again.

Why is this required?

Turning this off helps the import process complete correctly. You can enable it again after the import is finished.

03

Download

Download from GitHub

Go to the Nugget GitHub release source and choose the correct build for your operating system and CPU architecture. Choosing the wrong build often leads to installation failure.

Nugget Download

Windows and macOS builds available

Multiple architectures are available. Download the package that matches your current machine.

Go to Download

Windows

Choose the Windows x64 build. This is the right option for most 64-bit systems.

Mac Intel

Check About This Mac. If the processor shows Intel, download the Intel build.

Mac Apple Silicon

If your Mac shows an Apple M-series chip, download the Apple Silicon build.

04

Installation

Installation and certificate issues

Different systems fail in different ways during installation. On Windows the common blocker is Defender, while on macOS it is usually developer verification or the quarantine attribute.

Windows

Handle Defender warnings

  1. Double-click the downloaded .exe installer.
  2. If Windows says it protected your PC, click More info.
  3. Click Run anyway.
  4. Finish the setup with the installer wizard.

macOS

Developer verification and damaged app warnings

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
  2. Drag the app icon into the Applications folder.
  3. If macOS says the developer cannot be verified or the app is damaged, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.
Terminal Command
sudo xattr -cr /Applications/Nugget.app

This command removes the app quarantine attribute. You will need to enter your Mac login password when running it.

05

Core Flow

Import Dynamic Wallpapers

Once Nugget is running and the device is connected, you can import dynamic wallpapers to the Apple device. In practice, this writes the tendies file into a location PosterBoard can read.

    1

Connect the iPhone / iPad to the computer with USB and trust this computer.

    2

Open the PosterBoard feature inside Nugget.

    3

Select the target device and confirm it is connected through USB and already trusted.

    4

Choose your wallpaper file, which is the tendies file.

    5

Open the Apply menu on the left and click Apply Changes.

    6

After rebooting the device, open the lock screen wallpaper editor, find the new wallpaper in Favorites, and set it as the wallpaper.

Tips
  • Make sure the device is unlocked and trusted.
  • Do not disconnect USB during import.
  • Some wallpapers require a specific iOS version.
  • If the wallpaper does not appear in Favorites after reboot, reconnect USB and import again.
Troubleshooting
  • If the device is not recognized, reconnect USB or restart the device.
  • If icons look abnormal after import, restore the related system settings.
  • If you need more files, go back to the wallpaper library and download more tendies resources.

Risk and Recovery

Things to know before applying changes

Nugget touches system-level configuration. It may work well, but that does not mean it is risk-free. On any device, you should think through your rollback plan before making changes.

Important Notes

System changes carry risk

Create a full backup before modifying anything so you can recover from unexpected issues.

Some changes require a reboot

A respring or full restart may be required before the change actually takes effect.

System updates can reset changes

After an OTA update, some customizations may revert and need to be applied again.

Backup Recommendations
  • Back up device data with iCloud or iTunes / Finder.
  • Understand how to restore factory settings before experimenting.
  • Avoid overly aggressive changes on a primary device.
How to restore defaults
  • Look for a Restore or Reset option inside Nugget first.
  • If you need a full rollback, restore the device through iTunes / Finder.
  • Restoring the device erases data, which is why backups matter.
Safety Advice

If this is your first time using Nugget, run through the full workflow on a secondary device first and make sure you understand what each feature does.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Find answers to the most common issues when using Nugget to set up iOS motion wallpapers.

Why is Nugget not recognizing my iPhone/iPad?

This is usually caused by USB connection or driver issues. If you are on Windows, ensure iTunes (downloaded from Apple's official site, not Microsoft Store) is installed and active. If you are on macOS, ensure you've trusted the connection on both the Mac and your device. Reconnecting the cable or using a different USB port can also help.

Why doesn't the imported wallpaper show up in Favorites after rebooting?

Make sure Stolen Device Protection is turned off before applying changes. If the wallpaper still isn't showing, try to reconnect the device and re-import the tendies file via PosterBoard in Nugget, making sure to apply changes and wait for a complete reboot.

Do I need to turn off Find My iPhone every time I change wallpapers?

No, you only need to turn it off during the Nugget import process. Once the wallpaper has been successfully imported and applied, you can immediately turn Find My iPhone back on.

Is using Nugget to import wallpapers safe?

Nugget makes system-level configuration adjustments using Apple's official mobile device management protocols. It doesn't jailbreak your phone. However, as with any system modification tool, it is highly recommended to make a full backup before proceeding.
